It’s certainly an exciting time for fans of pop punk icons Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, or, as they’re once again collectively known, legendary genre ensemble Blink-182.
Not only have the band announced the enthusiastically-welcomed return of founding member/guitarist/vocalist Tom to the line-up, revealed that a new album is on the way and outlined plans for a massive world tour in 2023, the much-loved trio have also just dropped a brand new tune titled “Edging”.
In a statement announcing all of the above on social media, Blink said, delighting countless enthusiasts the world over in the process, “We’re coming. Tour’s coming. Album’s coming. Tom’s coming. Tickets on sale Monday. New song EDGING out Friday.”
As for said new song itself, the delightfully attitude-infused two and a half minute creation commences with a quick but captivatingly vigorous blast of drumming that precedes a superbly passionate and punky opening stanza stuffed with splendidly spirited and inescapably engrossing vocals and awesomely animated and tremendously energising guitar, bass and drum work.
The vibe remains wonderfully rousing going forward as the tune trots thrillingly towards a terrifically lively, infectiously energetic and incredibly catchy chorus that features fantastically expressive and absorbingly euphonious singing alongside magnificently merry and enormously electrifying instrumentation.
This is succeeded by a second superbly passionate and punky stanza stuffed with splendidly spirited and inescapably engrossing vocals and awesomely animated and tremendously energising guitar, bass and drum work that leads the way to another terrifically lively, infectiously energetic and incredibly catchy chorus featuring fantastically expressive and absorbingly euphonious singing alongside magnificently merry and enormously electrifying instrumentation, after which an exhibition of invigorating vocals and music steps into the spotlight to preface an absolutely exhilarating climactic refrain.
Blink have gifted the world an irresistibly riveting and marvellously peppy pop punk composition here doesn’t contain a single dull moment. Packed with spellbindingly harmonious and magnificently zestful singing and hugely exciting and exceptionally skilful instrumental work, “Edging” is Blink at their very best and is guaranteed to please the band’s legions of devotees across the planet as well as being sure to enthral anyone who listens to it.
