Cell Games release new single ‘HELLWORLD’

Irish nu-metal band Cell Games have returned with their latest single, HELLWORLD, continuing a run of releases that has helped establish the group as one of the country’s emerging heavy music acts.

Formed in 2021, the band has built a following through a blend of heavy guitar-driven music, electronic elements and references drawn from popular culture. Their catalogue includes singles such as The Optical World, Witches X Bitches, Lament Configuration and Let’s Go To Therapy, alongside their debut EP, You Have (Not) Heard These Songs Before, which was released last year.

According to the band, HELLWORLD represents their sound at its most developed to date. The track was recorded following a period of extensive touring in the UK and marks one of the first releases to feature drummer Niall O’Carroll, who joined the group in 2025.

Musically, the song combines electronic production with aggressive guitar riffs, prominent bass lines and powerful percussion. Vocalist Maximillion Foy delivers lyrics that address social and political issues, including discrimination and division in contemporary society.

The band has said that themes of empathy, acceptance and resilience remain central to its music. While Cell Games often incorporate fantasy and pop culture references into their work, the group has consistently linked those influences to real-world topics and personal experiences.

The band’s name itself is inspired by the anime series Dragon Ball Z, reflecting an interest in popular culture that runs throughout their songwriting.

HELLWORLD was produced by longtime collaborator Josh Redmond of JSR Audio, with artwork created by Jade Costello. The production combines electronic textures with the band’s established heavy sound, while the artwork depicts a figure falling from the sky against a sunset backdrop.

Since their formation, Cell Games have become known for pushing beyond traditional genre boundaries while retaining the core elements of nu-metal. The release of HELLWORLD continues that approach, combining electronic influences, heavy instrumentation and socially focused lyrics within a compact and energetic track.

The new single is available now on streaming platforms.
