Influenced by the likes of A-ha, R.E.M., Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, AIR, The Monkees, Phil Spector and Mercury Rev as well as painters and film composers such as Monet, Miro, Dali, Hundertwasser, Van Gogh and Bernard Herrmann, Irish singer/multi-instrumentalist Conor Furlong hit the music scene several years ago with the aim of making, in his own words, “music that [he loves] and [with the] hope that you might love it too.”
The industrious artist subsequently started to turn heads in late 2014 when he released his riveting debut album, Adventure, which, impressively, was arranged, performed and produced by the Dublin based musician alone. Over the course of the seven years or so since, Furlong has crafted a collection of equally riveting other musical works, including singles “In Paradise”, “Blinding Light” and “Right”, and two more critically acclaimed albums named Rapid Eye Movement and Vibrating at the Speed of Light, which were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Now he’s preparing to drop a brand new record on September 17th called Recurring Dream, the first single of which, “Teenage Fantasies”, has just been unveiled.
The characteristically captivating three minute, fifty one second song showcases enthrallingly harmonious and spirited singing that stays splendidly melodic and expressive atop an assortment of consistently energising and skilful instrumentation as the composition progresses, giving rise to a magnificently mellifluous, terrifically passionate and wonderfully rousing pop/rock tune that’s sure to satisfy Furlong’s established fans while simultaneously turning plenty of new heads in his direction.
