Renowned Irish singer-songwriter David Kitt has brought back his iconic 2006 album “Not Fade Away” in a re-released vinyl edition. This marks the first time the album has been available on vinyl, offering fans a chance to experience Kitt’s timeless music in a new format.
Originally released on Rough Trade records, “Not Fade Away” has undergone a meticulous remastering process and has been re-sequenced to enhance the listening experience. The re-release also includes a brand-new track titled “Love Someone Else”, featuring Niamh Regan.
Accompanying today’s release is a fresh music video for “Love Someone Else”, directed by Suri Grennell and Garr Cleary. Kitt describes the video as “tongue-in-cheek,” touching on themes of delusion and despair while paying homage to cinematic influences like “The King of Comedy” and artists like Pierre et Gilles.
David Kitt, known for his unique and sincere songwriting style, has been a prominent figure in the music industry for over two decades. With a knack for blending inspirations from various eras and genres.
Reflecting on the journey of creating “Not Fade Away”, Kitt shares personal insights into the album’s tumultuous beginnings and the challenges he faced during its production. Despite encountering setbacks, including label financial woes and personal struggles, Kitt cherishes the memories of collaborating with fellow musicians and producers across different locations.
Following the album’s original release, Kitt grappled with feelings of disappointment as it failed to receive the international recognition he had hoped for. However, reclaiming the rights to the record several years later presented an opportunity for Kitt to revisit and refine the album, preserving its essence while addressing previous shortcomings.
Now, after 18 years since its debut, Kitt expresses his satisfaction with the reissued version of “Not Fade Away”, which he describes as a labour of love. By releasing the album on vinyl for the first time, Kitt aims to provide fans with a fresh perspective on his music while honouring the legacy of an album that has touched the lives of many.
