Belfast rock duo Dea Matrona have announced a headline performance at The Academy in Dublin on 28 November 2026, following the release of their second studio album, Hate That I Care.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on 12 June, with a MyMCD presale taking place two days earlier.
Made up of Mollie McGinn and Orláith Forsythe, Dea Matrona recorded, wrote and produced Hate That I Care independently. The album follows the release of its title track earlier this year and sees the band move further towards an alternative rock sound while maintaining the energy that has become a hallmark of their music.
Speaking about the title track, McGinn said it was inspired by a period of isolation while off the road.
“When we weren’t touring, I fell into a nocturnal routine and became disconnected from many of the people I care about. ‘Hate That I Care’ is written to myself rather than anyone else, capturing the exhaustion that comes from masking emotions and trying to be present in a way that feels genuine,” she said.
The album explores themes including personal identity, expectations and self-discovery. Forsythe said the record reflects the pressures the band have faced as their profile has grown.
“People have always tried to assume who we are; both musically and personally. Our second album Hate That I Care is a response to that: it’s more personal, more honest, and more aware of the world around us than anything we’ve made before,” she said.
Dea Matrona first gained attention through online performances and busking videos before building a larger audience through touring and festival appearances. Their self-released debut album reached the Top 10 of the indie charts, helping establish the pair as one of Ireland’s rising rock acts.
In recent years, they have appeared at major festivals including Reading and Leeds, Electric Picnic and Rock Werchter. The duo have also toured with Canadian band The Beaches and are scheduled to join Sting on a series of dates during 2026.
The Dublin concert forms part of a wider UK and European touring schedule that includes shows in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol and Leeds, alongside festival appearances across Ireland, Spain, France, Portugal, Croatia, Hungary and Poland.
Dea Matrona’s headline performance at The Academy will take place on 28 November 2026, with doors opening at 7pm. The show is restricted to those aged 18 and over. Tickets are priced from €22.50, including booking and venue fees.
