In 2024 rock gods Green Day released a highly-anticipated fourteenth full-length record called Saviors, a mind-blowingly and breathtakingly brilliant rock record that’s loaded with wonderful depth, zest, enthusiasm, emotion and melodiousness, and that packs a colossally powerful punch.
Fast forward to April 2025 and the legendary trio announced a new deluxe edition of Saviors that features five new tunes for fans to feast upon.
In a statement sent out in a newsletter at the time, Green Day said, “Thought the Saviors fun was over? WRONG. No signs of slowing down here !! Enter Saviors (édition de luxe), dropping May 23rd.
“The deluxe includes 5 brand new songs: ‘Smash It Like Belushi,’ ‘Fuck Off,’ ‘Ballyhoo,’ ‘Underdog,’ ‘Stay Young,’ and acoustic renditions of ‘Suzie Chapstick’ and ‘Father to a Son.’
“We also have TWO new vinyl variants for you… pink with white splatter + clear with pink splatter – both 2 LPs/double gatefold with some new artwork! Andddd there’s even some new pieces of merch too.”
The band added, “We’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeves the next few weeks (as always), stay tuned.”
And in order to help build hype for this upcoming updated edition of Saviors, Billie Joe, Mike and Tré’s announcement of its impending arrival was accompanied by the release of an official visualizer video for one of the new compilation’s previously unheard songs, “Smash It Like Belushi”, which is a delightfully upbeat, infectiously energetic and spellbindingly harmonious punk rock offering.
Hot on the heels of that announcement and release, Green Day were honoured with their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame before building the hype for further by releasing another delightfully upbeat, infectiously energetic and spellbindingly harmonious tune titled “Ballyhoo”.
Speaking about that achievement and song release in a subsequent newsletter, Green Day said, “WOW… what a day on Hollywood Boulevard!!! Massive thanks to everyone who came out to watch us get our ⭐️ on the Walk of Fame. We’re keeping the celebrations going — “Ballyhoo” a new one from Saviors (édition de luxe) is out now!!”
Saviors (édition de luxe) then dropped in its irresistibly riveting and wonderfully rousing entirety in May alongside an official music video for the hugely electrifying and exceptionally enthralling Saviors punk rock belter “One Eyed Bastard”.
Now Billie, Mike and Tré have unveiled another new single in the form of “Fuck Off (Fidlar Alt Mix)”, which arrived with the tagline, “‘Fuck Off’ got a new spin. Meet ‘F Off (FIDLAR Alt Mix).’ Because one just wasn’t enough.”
Like “Smash It Like Belushi” and “Ballyhoo” before it, “Fuck Off (Fidlar Alt Mix)” is a delightfully upbeat, infectiously energetic and spellbindingly harmonious punk rock offering that contains all the ingredients it needs to please Green Day fans, and genre enthusiasts in general, everywhere.
