US band Guster

Guster release new single “The Elevator”

Due to fan anticipation, American alternative rock band Guster has unveiled a new song following their recent sold-out performance at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. The show not only marked the conclusion of the initial leg of their “We Also Have Eras Tour” but also served as a CD release celebration, affording attendees the rare opportunity to acquire the “Ohh La La” album ahead of its widespread release next month. The track in question, “The Elevator”, has ignited extensive dialogue across online fan communities, written from the perspective of a parent to their child and is a reminder of the bittersweet and unavoidable passing of time.

Scheduled for release on May 17th via Ocho Mule Records, “Ohh La La”, Guster’s ninth studio album and first in over five years, has been preceded by the unveiling of its lead single, “Keep Going”, which debuted in February. Accompanied by a music video, “Keep Going” captures the essence of the album’s emotional landscape, exuding a sense of resilience amidst life’s tumultuous currents. Additionally, tracks such as “All Day” and “Maybe We’re Alright” are currently available for streaming.

Diverging boldly from its predecessor, the acclaimed 2019 release “Look Alive”, “Ohh La La” embodies a lush and expansive sonic palette, characterized by resonant acoustic guitars and piano arrangements. With production contributions from Ron Aniello (known for his work with Bruce Springsteen) and Rich Costey (renowned for collaborations with Death Cab for Cutie and Of Monsters and Men), the album emanates a palpable warmth while confronting the complexities of contemporary existence.

Reflecting on the creative process, drummer Brian Rosenworcel emphasizes the album’s profound depth and the band’s commitment, underscored by over three decades of musical evolution. Vocalist Adam Gardner acknowledges the symbiotic relationship between Guster and its devoted fanbase, attributing their enduring creative vitality to the reciprocal bond forged through years of shared experiences.

Guster’s enduring legacy will be commemorated through a series of live performances, including festival appearances and special engagements. Notable highlights include a sold-out performance at the Newport Folk Festival and a landmark celebration of the 25th anniversary of their seminal album “Lost and Gone Forever” at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, accompanied by the Colorado Symphony and guest artist Kevin Morby. Additionally, the band will host their annual “On The Ocean Festival” in Portland, ME, and deliver a full LP performance at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.
