Irish trio Kingfishr have released a new single, “The Sun Will Never Settle”, continuing their strong start to 2026. The track arrives via B-Unique and Atlantic Records and follows their earlier release “The Blade”.
The band, formed in Limerick, have spent much of the year on the road following a breakthrough period that saw growing audiences across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America. Recent highlights include two sold-out shows at London’s Brixton Academy as part of a wider UK tour.
“The Sun Will Never Settle” has already been tested live during recent performances, where it received a strong audience response. The song was premiered as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record.
Produced by David Curley at Grouse Lodge Studios in County Westmeath, the single continues the band’s focus on acoustic-led, folk-influenced songwriting. Built around banjo, layered guitars and a prominent vocal from Eddie Keogh, the track reflects their established sound, which draws on Irish folk traditions while remaining accessible to mainstream audiences.
Keogh has described the song as focusing on the end of a relationship and the idea that even difficult experiences can have value if both people move forward in a positive way.
Kingfishr released their debut album Halcyon in August 2025. The record reached number one in Ireland and entered the UK Top 10, driven in part by the success of earlier single “Killeagh”, which has become one of the most commercially successful Irish releases in recent years.
The band’s rise has been marked by rapid growth in live demand, with multiple sold-out arena and outdoor shows across Ireland, including Dublin, Cork and Belfast, alongside festival appearances across Europe and North America.
Their 2026 schedule includes headline shows and major festival slots across Europe and the United States, reflecting a continued expansion of their international audience.
Kingfishr’s appeal has been built on straightforward songwriting, combining emotional themes with traditional instrumentation and a focus on live performance, helping position them as one of Ireland’s most prominent contemporary folk-influenced acts.
