Milk Rain release debut EP ‘Saphic Failings’

Dublin and Bray garage rock band Milk Rain have released their debut EP, Saphic Failings, alongside a new video for the single GRL PWR. The release marks a major step for the four-piece group, who have steadily built a following through live performances and DIY releases across Dublin’s independent music scene.

Written by vocalist and songwriter Lisa Milk Murnane, Saphic Failings is a three-track EP centred on themes of love, desire and heartbreak. The songs combine melodic vocals with stripped-back garage rock production, with the band drawing influence from acts including Snail Mail, Dry Cleaning, Mitski and Beat Happening.

The EP was recorded and produced in a series of bedrooms across Dublin, with drummer Conor O’Boyle handling production duties. Murnane is joined in the band by bassist Maeve Costello and lead guitarist Thomas Earls.

Milk Rain began introducing the project earlier this year with the release of Desk Lamp in March, followed by Pretty Girl in May. GRL PWR, released today, completes the run of singles tied to the EP launch.

The band have also produced a set of accompanying music videos directed and filmed by Murnane. Featuring all four members, the videos expand on the themes of the EP through a cinematic DIY style that matches the group’s independent approach to recording and performance.

Since releasing their debut single Gedrosian, the group have played Thomastown Pride Festival and shared stages with Irish acts including Softdrink Millionaire, Mark and Luke, and Goblinz. They also toured Dublin and Louth in support of their 2025 Christmas single Merry F*cking December.

Milk Rain formed shortly after Murnane finished college, bringing together friends from Dublin and Bray with a shared interest in indie rock, punk and surf-inspired guitar music.

Saphic Failings and the GRL PWR video are available now on streaming platforms.
