Niamh McKinney returns with new single ‘Damn Luxury’

Wicklow singer-songwriter Niamh McKinney has released her first new music of 2026 with the arrival of Damn Luxury, marking her return after a year away from releasing singles.

The new track follows two singles issued by McKinney in 2025 and explores the lives of two young women whose experiences have taken very different directions. At the centre of the song is a conversation between the pair, including one woman who became a mother during her teenage years.

Through the lyrics, Damn Luxury examines themes of freedom, responsibility and personal choices. One character reflects on opportunities she feels she missed, while the other challenges her to consider the consequences of the decisions she has made. As the song develops, the discussion moves through feelings of regret and understanding before reaching a more reflective conclusion.

Produced by McKinney’s longtime collaborator and husband, Stephen McKinney, the single continues the songwriter’s focus on storytelling and emotionally driven songwriting.

Musically, Damn Luxury blends folk influences with elements of nostalgic pop. Layered vocal arrangements sit over a melodic backdrop, building towards a chorus designed to be both memorable and atmospheric.

McKinney has built her reputation through songs that combine personal themes with detailed narratives, and the new release continues that approach. The track also marks the beginning of a new chapter for the artist following her recording break.

With Damn Luxury, McKinney returns with a song that explores relationships, life choices and differing perspectives, while maintaining the folk-inspired style that has become a key part of her work. The single is available now.
