Reevah returns with new single ‘Take What You Can’

Derry singer-songwriter Reevah has released her new single “Take What You Can”, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Northern Irish artist as she continues to move towards a richer alternative-pop sound.

Released through Bloom Records, the track is Reevah’s first new material since her debut album and arrives ahead of a second LP planned for 2026. Built around warm pedal steel guitar, steady rhythms and emotionally direct songwriting, “Take What You Can” blends indie-pop with country influences while holding onto the intimate style that first introduced audiences to the Derry musician.

Written in Derry alongside longtime collaborator Brian Doherty, the song developed quickly in the studio, shaped by themes of trust, betrayal and emotional endurance.

“It was one of those tracks that had almost written itself,” Reevah said. “The story was already there, just waiting to be told. It feels like it paves the way for what’s to come, carrying through my previous sensibilities, themes, and sounds, but with a touch of something new and fresh.”

She added: “I really wanted to incorporate pedal steel guitar into this song. There’s something really fun and embracing about the tonal palette it creates and incorporating more country-leaning elements has always felt really natural to me.”

Drawing inspiration from artists including Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Dean, Role Model and CMAT, Reevah continues to explore emotionally open songwriting anchored by understated but detailed production. Her voice remains at the centre of the track, moving through moments of restraint and release without losing its closeness.

Speaking about the track, she described it as “about people who take kindness for weakness and the quiet strength it takes to stand still while everything unravels, knowing the truth will always rise.”

“Take What You Can” was produced by Matt Weir and Brian Doherty, mixed by Will Reeves and mastered by Tuff Master. The recording also features contributions from bassist Gary Todd, guitarist Thomas Bannon and pedal steel player Colm McClean.

Over recent years, Reevah has steadily built a reputation as one of Northern Ireland’s most distinctive emerging artists, balancing folk-rooted storytelling with modern pop textures.
