Sick Love: Baby, It’s You (EP Review)

Irish alt-rock quartet Sick Love have just unleashed an awesome new EP entitled Baby, It’s You. Consisting of three previously released tunes and one brand new one, the fantastically fiery four track compilation is a genuine treat for the ears from start to finish.

Showcasing the three songs that the extremely proficient foursome unveiled previously first, Baby, It’s You begins with the brilliantly boisterous “I Want You All of the Time”, which boasts an irresistibly absorbing synthesis of superbly spirited stanzas and exceptionally exhilarating choruses, all of which are stuffed with stunningly vibrant vocals and immensely thrilling instrumentation.

The equally electrifying “Bad Girl” comes next and engrosses with its splendidly expressive singing and magnificently rousing music as it stomps energetically in the direction of the delightfully heavy and characterful guitar, bass and drum work that introduces “My Man”. The ensuing three and a third minutes are packed with stupendously forceful singing and marvellously lively instrumentation, the inescapably captivating combination of which gives rise to a spectacularly zestful rock anthem that leaves a lasting impression.

This is succeeded by the song about which Sick Love’s established fans will no doubt be most excited – the freshly-composed “I’m So (Fucked Without You)”. Made up of an utterly superlative mixture of spellbindingly passionate vocals and tremendously stirring instrumentation, the ensemble’s latest composition endows Baby, It’s You with a breathtakingly powerful finale.

Sick Love have assembled four terrifically vigorous, melodious and impactful rock songs here, each of which is absolutely impeccable. The truly excellent combination of fantastically peppy and enchantingly harmonious vocals and exceedingly energising and incredibly skilful instrumentation exhibited by each of this EP’s tracks demonstrates that Sick Love are, as far as this writer is concerned, still easily one of the best acts – if not THE best act – active on the Irish music scene at the moment, and if you haven’t heard the material that makes up Baby, It’s You yet, then I highly recommend that do you yourself a favour and check it out at once.
