Within Temptation: Bleed Out (Album Review)

Mighty Dutch metal ensemble Within Temptation have just dropped a brand new album called Bleed Out.

Following a very fruitful past year for the exceedingly talented ensemble that saw blow the minds of fans across Europe on their highly-anticipated, long-awaited and altogether utterly awesome Worlds Collide tour with fellow genre legends Evanescence, and unveil an extremely thrilling tune titled “The Fire Within”, as well as an official music video for said song, the new album has also arrived hot on the heels of the release of the band’s latest single, “Ritual”, which is described in the description section under it official visualizer video on YouTube as being “one of the kinkiest songs [Within Temptation] have ever written and is fully inspired by From Dusk Till Dawn. An iconic movie by Quentin Tarantino about a seemingly normal road trip, turning into a vampire slayer party.”

Vocalist Sharon den Adel is quoted in the same description section as saying, “It’s a fun track about seduction. It’s about the lady taking power in a male dominated world and taking her own initiative.”

Just like “The Fire Within” and “Ritual” as singles, all eleven musical offerings that make up Bleed Out – “We Go to War”, “Bleed Out”, “Wireless”, Worth Dying For”, “Ritural, “Cyanide Love”, “The Purge”, “Don’t Pray for Me”, “Shed My Skin”, “Unbroken” and “Entertain You”, respectively – are stuffed with superbly heavy and immensely exciting instrumentation and superbly expressive and mesmerizingly melodic vocals, all of which plays out across a collection of exceedingly invigorating verses and splendidly energetic choruses that showcase captivatingly harmonious and terrifically spirited singing alongside magnificently animated and energising music, and make a powerful impact.

All in all, Bleed Out is an enormously riveting and tremendously epic record from Within Temptation that’s packed with power and passion. Again just like “The Fire Within” and “Ritual” as singles, Bleed Out’s consistently entrancing mixture of marvellously mellifluous and wonderfully zestful vocals and infectiously lively and colossally stirring instrumentation is sure to satisfy established Within Temptation enthusiasts as well as many metal lovers in general.
