Having begun to make waves on her homeland’s music scene when she unveiled her first single, “Reasons”, during the summer of 2018, Irish soul pop/R’N’B singer/songwriter Amy Naessens proceeded to spend a year and a half exhibiting her music on stages around Ireland before kicking 2020 off by releasing a remarkably affecting tune on January 10th entitled “To Be the One You Choose” – which was featured on radio stations such as RTÉ 2FM, FM 104, Spin 1038 and iRadio – and performing live at a sold-out headline show in Whelan’s of Dublin on January 11th.
Now she’s just dropped a brand-new song called “Kiss and Tell”.
Produced by Tully Gun, who has worked with a number of renowned acts including The Coronas, Hozier and Josh Gray, “Kiss and Tell” is said to explore “the idea of a blossoming romance and the exciting element of secrecy that a new relationship brings.”
The touching three-minute tune is introduced by some soothing music that’s soon joined by enthrallingly soft singing. The instrumentation remains relaxing during the delightfully gentle first verse, as the vocals grow more expressive while remaining enchantingly pleasant. The whole thing transitions into a wonderfully warm chorus coming up to the one-minute mark, after which the spotlight shifts to a second magnificently mellifluous and moving stanza.
This is succeeded by another entrancingly amiable and fantastically heartfelt chorus, which leads the way to an alluringly laid-back vocal and instrumental exhibition that prefaces a superbly harmonious and stirring final refrain.
Naessens has delivered another incredibly affecting pop/folk composition here that, like its predecessor, manages to leave a lasting impression. Its affable fusion of marvellously melodic singing and splendidly peaceful music is likely to appeal to a vast and varied listenership.
“Kiss and Tell” is also available to download on iTunes now.
