Blink-182: One More Time (Single Review)

The past year has certainly been an exciting time for fans of pop punk icons Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, or, as they’re once again collectively known, legendary genre ensemble Blink-182.

Not only did the band announce the enthusiastically-welcomed return of founding member/guitarist/vocalist Tom to the line-up in late 2022, reveal that a new album is on the way and outline plans for a massive world tour in 2023, the much-loved trio also just dropped a delightfully attitude-infused tune titled “Edging” last October.

In a statement announcing all of the above on social media at the time, Blink said, delighting countless enthusiasts the world over in the process, “We’re coming. Tour’s coming. Album’s coming. Tom’s coming.”

Now, in the midst of their European tour and just weeks before they highly-anticipated new album descends upon the planet on October 20th, the trio have just unveiled a new single in the form of their forthcoming record’s riveting title track, “One More Time”.

The extremely touching three and a half minute new tune exhibits an exceedingly absorbing synthesis of immensely moving verses and superbly passionate choruses, all of which contain captivatingly melodic and splendidly expressive singing, tremendously impactful lyrics, and impeccably played enormously stirring music.

The end result is a remarkably powerful composition that feels fantastically deep and meaningful. Loaded with mesmerizingly melodious and terrifically spirited singing, admirably personal and hard-hitting lyrics, and very affecting and exceptionally skilful instrumental work, “One More Time” embeds itself deep in the mind and leaves an indelible impression.
