Conor Furlong: Bullet From A Gun (Single Review)

September of 2021 saw the arrival of the fourth full-length record from unique, acclaimed and accomplished Irish singer/multi-instrumentalist Conor Furlong, Recurring Dream, which turned out to be a typically consistently captivatingly melodic, splendidly expressive, fantastically heartfelt and immensely moving pop/rock compilation – our full review of Recurring Dream can be read by clicking here – and closely followed the releases of three enthralling singles titled “Teenage Fantasies”“Your Touch” and “Are You Gonna Sleep Tonight?”, which dropped to stream and download between late July and early September, before being followed itself in October by another two enthralling single titled “Freaking Out” and “Survive” and yet another enthralling single titled “Run Away” in November before he closed out last year by releasing one last enthralling single for 2021 titled “Enough”.

Not content to sit still, Furlong wasted no time beginning work on new music when 2022 started, and last month released a riveting tune titled “Gaza Kid”.

Now, having seemingly still barely paused to take a breath after unleashing his last album, the admirably devoted and exceptionally industrious artist whose music is influenced by the likes of A-ha, R.E.M., Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, AIR, The Monkees, Phil Spector and Mercury Rev as well as painters and film composers such as Monet, Miro, Dali, Hundertwasser, Van Gogh and Bernard Herrmann, and who composes songs, according to the musician himself, with the aim of making “music that [he loves] and [with the] hope that you might love it too”, has just put out a brand new composition called “Bullet from A Gun”.

Taken from Furlong’s forthcoming fifth full-length record, In Ruins, “Bullet from A Gun” is, once again completely unsurprisingly, yet another characteristically irresistibly entrancing pop/rock offering from Furlong that remains absorbingly serene and exceedingly affecting from start to finish, as it showcases a captivatingly characterful combination of splendidly spirited singing and delightfully upbeat instrumentation throughout its extremely charming near-three minute runtime that is once again sure to satisfy its creator’s established fans while simultaneously turning plenty of new heads in the strikingly talented musician’s direction.

If you haven’t heard “Bullet from A Gun” yet, you can investigate it via its accompanying music video below.

“Bullet from A Gun” is also available to stream on Spotify and download on iTunes now, and will be followed by the rest of its upcoming parent compilation on September 16th.
